LOS GLACIARES
NATIONAL PARK

Los Glaciares National Park was created in 1937, and in 1981 declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It covers over 3000 square miles of mountains, lakes, woods and a vast amount of ice-covered peaks and ice-covered plateau in the west, and dry steppes to the east. Huge glacial lakes have been carved by the glacial movements.

The National Park has 356 Glaciers, 13 of them are considered to be the most prominent including Perito Moreno, the most famous one, Viedma (the largest one with 380 square miles), and Upsala, the second largest and also well known. Viedma Lake and Argentino Lake collect the melting from all the glaciers and snowfields
